After spending our first meeting researching shorts and producing notes on the typical structure of a conflict narrative, we all produced our own story for the next week. With a similar premise, when we came together in a few days we could offer different perspectives of the same story. Hopefully to result in a diversity of ideas, ultimately towards a better final decision.
STORYBOARDS/BEAT SHEETS/CHARACTER DESIGN
The narrative is a focus on modern vs. traditional views implicitly expressed through different methods of window washing. Finally, the two characters balance eachother out both metaphorically and literally when they fall due to their competition above the canyon.
With feedback from tutors and friends, we settled on progressing with ‘Cliffhanger’. Below is our animatic.
The feedback we received was positive. There were some visual discrepancies about why the characters were at the houses – whether they owned them or not. We knew we would be adding in more visual cues as to why they were there, but they should have been in the animatic too.
