My best work from each semester.
My favourite class, I should have continued with the medium. Contrasting with how I use conte, the ink allowed me to paint crisp, economical lines – forcing me to think about and see the proportion and line of action before making a mark.
Line of Gravity (+ other class studies);
Gravity – another element to consider in life drawing/character poses/storyboarding. For me, this class was teaching me if a force is acting on this part of the body, then how do the other limbs act in consequence in order to hold this pose? Continuing to expand knowledge on believable poses to apply to our characters.
This class we were told to let go of form and draw movement instead. Lots of curves.
See my CHARACTER TURNAROUND POST for process notes and reflection.

When you notice drawing characters and poses comes that little bit easier to you, it’s working. This year’s life drawing classes have benefited me across all the modules and I apply the same drawing workflow – seeing, thinking, line of action, etc. – even when it came to animating in 3D. The practice of dynamic poses and believable limb placement was great use for reproducing in the animation task. The plan is to definitely continuing to draw and dabble in ink again over summer, and hopefully next year attending the extra classes. Just continuing building on this already worthwhile experience.
